Good Search and Make It Count!
If you do a ton of online-shopping and web surfing like I do, you must must MUST use GoodSearch.com. Good Search is a great service to non-profit organizations, especially animal welfare. When you used their search engine (powered by Yahoo so just as good as any other one you would use), they donate 50% of the revenue generated to your favorite non-profit.
Although this translates to around 1 cent per search, the money quickly adds up and it’s 100% free to use for both the searcher and the benefactor. I use Good Search to support Friends of Animals Foundation in West LA, an organization I have been involved with for 15 years, and where I adopted my adorable kitties Lucia and James. To date, everyone who has used Good Search for FOAF has raised over $125 to help. Now that may seem like very little, but anyone who works with animal shelters knows– EVERY penny helps. Especially now.
Other organizations have raised much more, including the ASPCA ($27k), Best Friends Animal Society ($10k), and World Wildlife Fund ($4k)– at no extra cost to anyone! Choose one of the thousands of non-profit choices, or set up one for your local SPCA or org (although they’ve probably on there)!
A way to help your organization even further is to use the Good Shop feature before you do your online shopping. This is just like any of the many sites out there that give you a % of your purchase back if you “click” thru their site. However, if you use Good Shop, this percentage goes to your organization of choice.
For example, say you make a $10 purchase on Amazon.com (one of the many sites linked to Good Search), 1.5% (or $0.15) will go to your non-profit. Trust me, this adds up. Or buy your next bouquet on 1800Flowers.com and they donate 7%! That’s $3.50 on a standard $50 purchase!
Anyway, if you feel guilty in these tough financial times, like I do, of not having extra money to give– you’ve got to use Good Search and Good Shop. It’s easy and makes you feel like you’re doing something good every day.
